fronter

What is fronter?

A web based Managed Learning Environment (MLE) that’s gives users (teachers, students, parents and governors) access to personalised information, tools and resources. The system is accessible from any internet connected computer, the servers are based in Oslo.

Fronter (London MLE) is available to ALL primary and secondary schools in London. This allows for exciting collaborative projects and means lots of stakeholders will be involved in developing fronter into a very powerful tool, a new version is being released during the 2009 summer holiday.

We piloted the system in during June/July 2009 with a small group of staff and students. From September we will be introducing fronter to an increasing number of students via their teaching staff.
There will also be an official launch in the 2009 Autumn term when all students and staff will be issued with accounts to use the system.

If you would like to find out more about fronter, take a look at these introductory videos:

digital school building

The digital school building video.

Fronter uses metaphors to relate the virtual environment to the real/physical school.

There are corridors and rooms in the school building and groups of users that are given access to these rooms.

In each room there are sets of tools to allow the users to perform useful tasks.

The video gives a good introduction to the concepts used in fronter.

uses of fronter

Benefits and uses of fronter.

We will be using the key features of fronter that make it easier for our students to see homework details and get assessment feedback.

Our teachers will be able to create resources and give feedback more easily. Keeping records will also be much easier and more convenient.
